Full Cold Moon in Gemini | A Vision Board Ritual

Happy Full Moon!

Happy Full Moon in Gemini!

And Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate! Tonight is the Full Cold Moon, and those of us in the northern hemisphere are likely going to feel a turn in the weather from here on out as the Full November Moon often marks colder temperatures on the way.

The Full Moon in Gemini is the perfect time for planning ahead and envisioning your future. Typically New Moon’s hold great energy for setting intention, but the Cold Moon represents an ebb in energy, and that couldn’t be more perfect as Mercury is in Retrograde until the 6th of December. Take this time to look at your intentions and goals. Rework what needs to be reworked! Refine your intention.

Spirit de la lune Mercury Retrograde

It might be hard to see what steps to take right now to attain your vision, so take a step back and enjoy the visualization part. Your imagination is a powerful tool!

Mercury Retrograde makes for the perfect time to refine your work, and make plans.

This is the perfect time to shop around and compare rather than make big or spontaneous purchases. Be careful no to sign important contracts, or make life altering decisions right now. You might be prone to changing your mind when Mercury goes direct!

Remember there is no need to hide away during this time. Go with the flow, but expect some delays. Be understanding of yourself and others, and use this time to prepare and plan.

The Moon is in the house of Gemini, an intellectual air sign that loves to ponder and expand ideas. We are using this lunar energy and Mercury Retrograde to create vision boards for our future. A vision board is a tool that helps us clarify and amplify our goals and intentions.

Creating a Full Moon Vision Board

Cold Moon Spirit de la Lune Full Moon Vision Board Ritual

Put simply, a vision board is a place where you put images or words that match your goals and desires so you can see them daily and reaffirm your intention.

There have been numerous studies done on visualization and success rates. Check out this cool study from forbes magazine!

Creating a Vision Board on the night of the Full Moon can be very impactful. Especially if you are combining it with crystals and other elements of magick!

Cold Moon Spirit de la Lune Full Moon Vision Board Ritual

What you will need:

  • intention or goal

  • images and words from magazine clippings, or websites

  • poster board or cardboard, you can do this in your journal, art journal, the back of a notebook etc.

  • mod-podge, glue, or tape

  • paintbrush

  • crystals that match your intention

  • altar

It’s important to begin this ritual with a clear intention. Vision boards can be focused on long term or short term goals. Go back to your new moon intention if you need to! If you aren’t sure where to start, begin by journaling or meditating. Ask yourself where you would like to be in a year, or 5 years.

Spirit de la Lune Full Cold Moon Vision Board Magic Ritual
  1. Meditate on your intention and visualize what it is you are wanting to create in your life. As you do this, check in with your emotions. What would it feel like to attain this vision? What emotions does this vision evoke?

  2. Once you have your intention, Go through old magazines, websites or books and look for images and words that feel in alignment with your vision and the emotion you evoked during step one. The images you choose don’t have to look e

The images you choose don’t have to look exactly like what you are wanting. You are just wanting a visual that evokes the emotion you felt during the process. You can find great magazine for vision boards at thrift stores or online here. Pick words or short phrases that feel in alignment with your vision as well. A good mixture of both will help both hemispheres of your brain, and your subconscious and conscious get to work!

3. Once you have gathered your words and images, arrange them on your poster board in a way that looks good to you!

collage hints:

  • Try several arrangements. Take pictures and compare. You will want to like the way it looks!

  • Glue in layers. Use big pieces for the background.

  • Put the words and smaller images on last.

  • Apply the mod-podge directly to the posterboard. Applying it to magazine . paper will make it weak and curl.

  • Take a picture of your arrangement before you begin gluing. It’s easy to forget how you wanted it once you start gluing!

  • You don’t need much glue with magazine paper. It tends to bubble up, so use thin layers and gently press the bubbles out with your fingertip.

4. Once the glue is dry, it’s time to charge and dedicate your board!

You can use crystals or other meaningful objects to charge your board.

Pleace your vision board on a flat surface, preferable where the Full Moon can shine onto it, and arrange your crystals around and over your vision board.

You can use any crystals that are in alignment with your vision! I used quartz points and rose quartz for mine because quartz can be programmed with your intention and is a great amplifier.

Keep your board charged under the moonlight for the duration of the Full Moon

5. After the Full Moon, place your board on your altar for the remainder of the lunar cycle or for however long you’d like it to keep it up.

It’s recommended to keep your vision board somewhere where you will see it often.

You can add new things to your vision board as you feel! There are no official rules. Make it your very own!

Full Moon energy can best be felt three days before and three days after the actual Full Moon, so you will have plenty of time to gather your magazines if you don’t have any around your house!

Happy Full Moon!

Happy Full Moon & Autumn Season!

Connect With Your Ancestors | Full Moon & Equinox Sangria Ceremony | Spirit de la Lune

This is the first Full Moon of the Autumn Season for the Northern Hemisphere.

It seems we are all looking forward to the colder weather and the return of the spirit world.

The veil begins to thin around the Autumn Equinox, being at it’s thinnest during Samhain.

Some will be experience the Full Moon in Pisces on Sept. 24th, and some Sept. 25th in the sign of Aries. This is a “cusp” Full Moon, between the elements, water and fire are emotional and passionate

Connect With Your Ancestors | Full Moon & Equinox Sangria Ceremony | Spirit de la Lune

So there may be a level of drama you aren’t quite expecting. This is a very transitional and intentse time for many.

The card that was pulled for this cycle during last New Moon’s post was Taurus: The Lover. A wonderful reminder for this season, especially because we are in the Shadow Period of a Venus Retrograde.

Venus is the Goddess of love and relationships, so when retrograde, relationships might be tested. The retrograde will take place in the sign of Scorpio, ruler of sex, death and taboo, so expect Venus goes retrograde from October 5th - November 15th.

“You may be confronted with obstacles that keep you from focusing on what you love to do. Let Taurus be a reminder to focus on love this Full Moon. Let yourself be immersed in love, self-care, focus on healing family trauma (look out for an amazing tarot/oracle spread to connect with your ancestors for our Full Moon post!)... get clear about what is worthy of your time and energy... love is always a worthy endeavor. Whether it's the love you have for your family and friends, yourself, or a project near and dear to your heart, or all of the above. Focus on love.” (From the New Moon Energy Report)

For this Full Moon and Autumn Equinox we have a two part ritual for tonight. The veil between world is thinning, and our ancestors and lineage have the opportunity to speak to us and visit with us. What do they have to say?

Ancestor Spread

From Marissa Moondaughter

Before beginning, do what you need to do to get into a grounded, meditative state. This could be a ritual bath, deep breathing, setting up an ancestor altar, or meditation. Surround yourself with white light to protect your energy while you contact the Spirit world. Make it very clear you are only contacting your lineage and malevolent spirits and energies are not welcome in your circle. Pour a glass of Underworld sangria for yourself and your ancestors!

Connect With Your Ancestors | Full Moon & Equinox Sangria Ceremony | Spirit de la Lune

We created this ancestor spread for this time of year, when the veil begins to thin between our world and the spirit world. As we get closer to Samhain, or Halloween, the veil is the thinnest to connect with spirits who have passed. This spread can be done if you do not know much about your roots, or even if you do! It can also be done any time to feel more connected to your ancestral roots.

In the center of your spread set up any items that represent your family or past loved ones. This could be pictures, jewelry, or items past down. It could be a family crest. Put whatever it is that makes you feel more connected to your family. If you do not have objects, write your intentions for this reading, or any questions you have for your ancestors.

Light a candle, or incense as an offering, and say something like this:

"As the veil thins, I invite my ancestors/elders, (feel free to name specific people) into this circle. I ask for your guidance and blessings. I am open to any messages you have for me. Thank you for supporting our lineage with your wisdom and teachings."

The bottom 6 cards that are facing upward are 6 Major Arcana cards, of your choice, to represent certain family members, or certain archetypes you wish to communicate with. These are the cards we chose, but feel free to choose other ones that resonate with you more

Connect With Your Ancestors | Full Moon & Equinox Sangria Ceremony | Spirit de la Lune

1. and 2. represent the ancient teachings and foundations for your roots; this can go back to ancient times.

3. and 4. represent your recently deceased elders, grandparents, uncles and aunts, parents -- the mother/father figures in your line.

5. and 6. represent the teachers, healers, and initiators of your traditions - they are the gatekeepers of the spiritual wisdom of your kin.

1. Star

2. Moon

3. Emperor

4. Empress

5. Hierophant

6. High Priestess

I tried to choose Yin and Yang complementary figures for each position since I am not very connected to my lineage. Each card you place on top is the message and teaching they have for you.

Before you choose the top card for each position, visualize the person or archetype in front of you and ask your question, or say hello. How do they respond to you? What is their expression or mannerisms? Then draw the card and proceed with your reading.

When you finish your reading, thank them for being with you tonight. When you sleep do not be surprised if your dreams have your ancestors in them. Pay attention and see what other messages they have for you.

Remember to be gentle with yourself. Lineage/ancestor work is very powerful and emotional. If you do not feel connected, do not feel discouraged. Allow this reading to be the knock on the door – let your ancestors know you are open to them and wish to build a relationship with them.

A great way to build a relationship with your ancestors is through leaving an offering on your altar. You can choose to leave a note, a picture, a candle or an offering of food. In the spirit of the season we are creating a Pomegranate Sangria- as an offering to the underworld and our ancestors.

Underworld Pomegranate Sangria

Brew your own spirits

Connect With Your Ancestors | Full Moon & Equinox Sangria Ceremony | Spirit de la Lune

There is a reason brews are called "spirits." For thousands of years our ancestors have left offerings of libations to their ancestors and the spirit world. They would pour their Mead, or ale, or wine on to the earth so their late loved ones could still enjoy the brews they loved while they were alive.

Before you invoke your ancestors and try our ancestor spread, brew this amazing recipe to invoke the Queen of the Underworld, Persephone, and make sure to pour a glass for your ancestors. Alcohol is optional in this recipe.

Underworld Pomegranate Sangria:

2 parts Pomegranate juice

1 part apple cider (or the whole bottle if you are not using alcohol)

1/2 cup Brandy (optional)

1 bottle of fruity red wine (optional)

Dash of cinnamon

Fruits:

Pomegranate seeds

Apple slices (slice horizontally so you can see the pentacle)

Blood red orange slices

Blueberries (frozen are great to use)

Any other seasonal fruit

Connect With Your Ancestors | Full Moon & Equinox Sangria Ceremony | Spirit de la Lune

Combine all ingredients into a big pitcher and let it sit under the moonlight for an hour, and then transfer to the fridge for at least another 1-2 hours.

Pour a glass for your ancestors while you do the the ancestor spread, and pour a glass into your garden as an offering to the spirit world.

Add a cinnamon stick into your glass and enjoy!

Don’t forget to share some with your loved ones as well. The card pulled for this week is the Lovers card and with Venus going retrograde in Scorpio we could all use some.

Corn Moon Ceremony: Dream Grid Activation

Happy Full Corn Moon!

We are approaching a beautiful and interesting Full Moon! The moon is actually on the cusp of Aquarius and Pisces! Depending on your time zone some people will experience an Aquarius Full Moon and others will be experiencing a Pisces Full Moon! Either way this is a Full Moon filled with romantic notions and high ideals, and how we can do our part for humanity to create and actualize the new dreams we are needing for this planet. There is a paradigm shift happening and humanity and the planet is experiencing a lot of chaos in the midst of this change. The Corn Moon energy is that of abundance and magnetizing nourishment and prosperity.

Corn Moon - Spirit de la Lune

On top of this, it is an almost lunar eclipse! The Earth's shadow actually does not cross over the Full Moon, but it does come really close this cycle! This means the Sun, Moon and Earth are almost precisely aligned with each other. Each of us is on a precipice, or a cusp of actualization, but we need more clarity.

With the Leo Sun and the Pisces/Aquarius-almost-Lunar-Eclipse, we are all in a powerful position to alter our communities in a powerful and magical way. By making your realm a more beautiful place the Leo within you will be mighty proud of that!

With this beautiful portal beckoning us to be our best selves - to embody our highest selves for the highest good of all, how do we know what to do? Many of us will feel the edge of the cliff and freeze. Maybe the ego will tell you to play it safe, or stay small as not to cause ripples. To hell with that!

Let's make waves into this cosmic ocean we are all swimming in!

Reach into the web of the collective conscious and ask the universe for a dream to guide you. We will do this by creating a crystal dream grid. So gather your crystals and activate your dreams! This ceremony below will tap into the vast clarity of Aquarius and the intuitive dreams of Pisces so we can all find our purpose for the new world paradigms we are beginning to attract and move into.

Dream Grid - Spirit de la Lune

Create a crystal grid using Amethyst, Clear Quartz points, and Rose Quartz. Amethyst activates dreams and the Third-eye, Clear quartz records and magnifies intentions, and Rose Quartz keeps you connected to love. These 3 crystals are easy to come by, but if you have a lot more crystals, tap into your intuition and use the crystals who speak to you! I also added Larimar for the High Heart Chakra (between the Throat and Heart Chakras) to help tap into the cosmic collective.

We love to include our cards in our crystal grids to invoke the energy of the Moondalas. So I put both Aquarius and Pisces in the grid to represent the cusp and honor their energies. I connected them with crystals to the center Full moon card so their energies can work together. Putting the grid together is half the fun and is a mediation in itself. Spend time playing with the crystals and asking them where they want to be placed.

crystal grid - spirit de la lune

If you do not have a lot to crystals to work with that is okay! Use what you have and play with different variations until you feel that the crystal grid is ready. Your crystals will let you know!

When you finish your grid, lay them out under the moonlight for at least 2 hours. It is better to have them set out on a tray so you can move them back into the house. While they are charging, sit out under the moonlight and whisper your dreams to Lady Luna... think about your community and on a global scale.

What dreams do you want to moonifest for humanity?

Before you bring your grid back in, it is now time to activate it under the moonlight! Using a wand, crystal point, or even your dominant index finger begin to connect all the crystals together starting with the center of your grid. Think of it like connect-the-dots! Move around the grid in a clockwise motion, always bringing the energy back to the center stone. Do this a couple of times (I like to go around in 3's) to find the easiest flow for the energy to move through.

Begin to imagine a beautiful silver thread of moonlight moving through your crown chakra down to your heart, and flowing into your hand directing the energy into the crystals. See this web of light weaving through all the crystals as you keep moving around the grid.

When you feel in tuned with the energy and focused enough begin to say these words or something similar, while weaving the crystal grid:

Weaver of Dreams, hear my call

Share our visions for the highest good of all

As I weave this web to hold the dreams from above

As I sleep, let me swim in the cosmic sea of love.

Water Bearer Moon,

I bask in your glow,

Pour the dust of the Moon & Stars

Into my heart and mind,

So my new visions can grow!

As I dream tonight,

Lady Moon, with your light, show me the purpose

For my soul to take flight!

Bring the grid back into your home and preferably put it under your bed or near your bed. Keep a dream journal near by you and as you lay down to sleep ask for a vision of clarity so your new path can be revealed. You can keep asking for this new vision through the end of this moon cycle and pay close attention to your dreams for the next two weeks.

If you want further insight into your dreams you can use the Spirit de la Lune cards and spreads in the guidebook! We hope you enjoy this Full Moon dream grid and let us know what dreams you have! What are the dreams you are moonifesting?

Blessing Moon Heart Opening Asana

Happy Full Moon beauties!

Today we bring you a movement ceremony to soften and open your heart chakra so you can cultivate contentment and receive the blessings that are already all around you. If you can, practice this asana under the Full moon's light tonight and with a Moon Sistar! My beautiful soul sistar and yoga teacher Hannah helped me with this video, my heart is full of gratitude!

There is a lot of back bending and heart opening in this flow, so listen to your body and do what feels good!

Before you begin...

I find setting an intention before you begin to move on the mat brings more meditation, focus, and sacredness to your practice. Feel free to draw a card from Spirit de la Lune and explore that word while you are moving and breathing, or try the Blessing Moon spread from the guidebook!

Mudras

Mudras are sacred gestures that help us activate different energies in the body and prana, the life force energy, within and all around us. Here are a couple of Hand Mudras you can try during your movement ceremony or while meditating under the Full Moon .

Mudra of the Earth

Touch the tip of your ring finger to the tip of  your thumb for the Mudra of the Earth or Privthi Mudra. This gesture stimulates and grounds your Root chakra  to increase stillness and contentment within your body. Let your heart soften with love and appreciation for all your body does for you.

Mudra of the Sun

You can also adjust this mudra by pressing your ring finger into your palm with your thumb. Your ring finger should be pressing into the thumb with the tip of your ring finger resting on the mount of Venus. This is the Surya Mudra, or Mudra of the Sun and increases the fire, or agni, within you. If you need to increase your energy and vitality try this mudra with your right hand and hold a citrine crystal in your left. Chant affirmations of mantras, or take 10 deep breaths and see how you feel afterward!

Lotus Mudra

This is a beautiful heart opening mudra to practice and cultivate gratitude and receiving love and blessings gracefully. At heart center, bring the bottom of your palms together touching your pinkies together and your thumbs together, almost as if your are creating a bowl with your hands. Stretch out and expand your open fingers, creating the lotus blossom in bloom. Imagine beautiful moonlight cascading into this vessel and pouring into your heart. You can hold crystals in this gesture or hold a bowl of moon water and bless it with your heart and the moon before you drink it. If you do hold a bowl, drink from it while your hands are still in this gesture.

Savasana Variations

Here are also a couple of variations for savasana for you to try as you end your practice. Feel free to place crystals all over your body and especially around you heart as you lay in these poses soaking in the movement you just did. Lay out under the moonlight, or imagine the beautiful Full Moon right above you restoring and healing your body with her gentle, soothing light.

Legs up the Tree (or Wall) Pose

This is a such a rejuvenating and restoring pose for savasana. It is a gentle inversion bringing more blood and circulation to your heart. If your hamstrings are tight, feel free to bend your legs a little keeping your feet on the wall or tree. You can deepen the back bend by placing a blanket under your hips, but that is completely optional. Listen to your intuition and follow your body's rhythms. (Click the images to enlarge them).

If you are outside using a tree, feel the energy of the tree commune and merge with yours. Feel the energy rising from the roots  of the tree and from Mother Earth moving into you. Your body becomes an extension of that tree, as if you are another root in the tree's system. Feel the energy rising from Mother Earth into your body and send it back to the tree. You are both giving and receiving each other's love. This is a beautiful grounding practice to try under the The Full Moon in earthy Capricorn!

Supta Baddha Konasana

This is another restoring pose that opens the hips and calms the nervous system. You may want to put blankets under your knees for more support or even use pillows and blocks so you are reclining and not completely on the ground. Again, listen to your body and do what feels good. (Click the images to enlarge them).

In this pose you can visualize your are floating in the ocean, your body supported by the gentle waves, as the Sun is setting and the Full Moon is rising. Her reflection in the water shimmers and charges the water with moondust. The moondust washes over you with each breath and each ebb and flow of the soothing, rhythmic waves. You become lighter and lighter, feeling as those you are floating to the moon, letting any tensions, doubts, or worries, sink down onto the ocean floor.

You are free. You are blissful. You are content. Namaste, moon Tribe.

We hope you enjoy this Full Moon Asana and please let us know if you try it! Tag us with #spiritdelalune or #tunetothemoon with your full moon readings or your favorite yoga pose from the asana!

What are the blessings in your life right now?
