Happy Full Blessing Moon & Eclipse!

The Summer months are here and in full force over here in the Northern Hemisphere. This Full Moon in many ways, marks the last big planting time of the season. All that needed to sprout roots for the long months ahead is in the ground growing towards its full potential while we prepare and maintain for the coming harvest.

The Blessing Moon marks a time of both celebration and preparation!

Abundance can be found all around right now, and this Full Moon in Capricorn might have many of us wanting to play in the garden, placing our last minute plants into the Earth.

This current Lunar Eclipse holds potent energy for rebirth and transformation on many levels for us all…

It is very important to remember to cleanse and clear away any old or stagnant energy that might be blocking you from your growth! This might mean reorganizing or physically cleaning.

It’s also important for empaths and highly sensitive people to be clearing their energy and protecting their auras/shields right now!

Not only are we currently in the middle of the Eclipse season…but we are deep in the many big retrogrades of 2019.

Many of these planets will be retrograde for several months, so the lessons they offer might be a bit more subtle than Mercury’s and the current Full Moon’s.

A retrograde is when a planet appears to be moving backwards… It really isn’t, but the retrograde does cause US to slow way down ourselves… the energy causes us to reevaluate, rethink, and replan.

Eclipses, like the current Full Moon we are experiencing shake up the current energy so that what isn’t working in our lives can come to the surface to be dealt with and healed.

With all this going on, we are currently welcoming in big changes and deep transformation into our lives that will have lasting impact.

This Lunar Eclipse wants us integrating these karmic lessons on a soul level so that we can enter a new chapter in our lives free from the weights and baggage of the past.

In order to truly embrace this change we need to prepare ourselves and our environment for the upcoming transformation. Similar to weeding a garden… smudging or saging your home or space will clear way old energy (and even bacteria) that is stagnant, negative or could be inhibiting your growth.

Blessing your space and calling in the energy of transformation and change after you clear the energy is a great way to help set an intention for the changes ahead. Cleansing and blessing your space and self can make way for new and healthy growth, while also helping your garden flourish!

(This is a guest post by Rachael of Tree Talker Art and a co-creator of Spirit de la Lune!)

The act of burning herbs to clear negative energy, clean the air and offer intention or blessing has been around for many years and is practiced by various cultures.

Smudging is currently very popular in the west, and there are many debates on if white sage is considered endangered or not… While white sage is a sacred herb for many cultures, there are several other different healing herbs out there that can be burned for clearing and cleansing the energy from the air. In fact, you might already have many of these herbs in your garden already! If not, your local grocery store or nursery will have many of the herbs! (Read more about the history of smudging here! Here is a list of possible herbs and their meanings to use.)

  1. Gather- Gather your herbs and flowers. Before you pick the flowers and herbs, keep in mind your intention from the last new moon. Or write a new one if you need to. You can even base the color of your string and herb choice off your intention. Using garden shears or sharp scissors, cut and gather your herbs.

Before cutting, ask the mother plant for permission and let her know what you plan to do with that branch. This will help remove any current living energy from the branch as well as help set and tune the intention of your smudge wand. Be sure to pick and prune at the right joints and nodules of the plant to promote future growth. Here is a good guide.

2. Arrange - Arrange your flowers into a small bouquet.

Lay the biggest and tallest plant matter down first to frame and add structure to your bouquet. Next add a layer of medium length flowers. Then add the shorter flowers filling in any gaps. Move the faces of the flowers so they face outwards. You can always trim any leaves.

*It is a good idea to let the bouquet wilt in the sun for a few minutes to soften up the stems so they don’t snap when tying the wand.

3. Tie- Tie a knot at the bottom/base and wrap the string tightly around the bundle at a 45° angle until you get to the top, then repeat back down the bundle until you get back to the bottom. Secure with a knot at the bottom. Keep the string tight. Herbs lose a lot of their bulk when they dry out, so you may need to re tie your smudge stick, or go over it again later.

You can leave a little loop so you can hang and dry your smudge stick.

4. Dry- Hang your fresh herb bundle by an open window until it is dry enough to burn. Mine was ready in only a day or so! Until then, enjoy the fragrance of the fresh herbs through your window!

(Your herbs will lose some size/bulk when it’s dry, so you might need to re-tie it.

5. Burn- Burn your wand with a container under it to catch any ashes that might fall. Never leave your herbal wand burning unattended! It’s best to stay mindful when working with fire and smoke.

Here is a list of the herbs I used and their properties… You can find more here!

Lavender - Used as an invitation for spirits. Lavender has long been used for cleansing. The Scent of lavender wards off evil spirits and safeguards one against evil.

Sage - Sage is a healing plant who’s smoke is used to bless, cleanse and heal. Sage is used to cleanse away the outside world and helps us enter a place of ritual or ceremony. There are many varieties of sage. Sage smoke is also antibacterial. It cleanses the air of negative debri on a physical and spiritual level.

Yarrow - Burned to enhance courage and strengthen psychic powers. Aids in divination and connection with spirits. Used to increase and enhance love. Burned for purification, cleansing and blessings. Encourages peace and balance. Yarrow helps eliminate toxins from the body during the Smudging process.

Rosemary- is known to to be soothing and encourages a sense of peace within you and your environment. Rosemary removes negative energy from spaces. Used to restore balance to create a healing environment.

Happy Full Moon & Lunar Eclipse!

Full Cold Moon in Gemini | A Vision Board Ritual

Happy Full Moon!

Happy Full Moon in Gemini!

And Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate! Tonight is the Full Cold Moon, and those of us in the northern hemisphere are likely going to feel a turn in the weather from here on out as the Full November Moon often marks colder temperatures on the way.

The Full Moon in Gemini is the perfect time for planning ahead and envisioning your future. Typically New Moon’s hold great energy for setting intention, but the Cold Moon represents an ebb in energy, and that couldn’t be more perfect as Mercury is in Retrograde until the 6th of December. Take this time to look at your intentions and goals. Rework what needs to be reworked! Refine your intention.

Spirit de la lune Mercury Retrograde

It might be hard to see what steps to take right now to attain your vision, so take a step back and enjoy the visualization part. Your imagination is a powerful tool!

Mercury Retrograde makes for the perfect time to refine your work, and make plans.

This is the perfect time to shop around and compare rather than make big or spontaneous purchases. Be careful no to sign important contracts, or make life altering decisions right now. You might be prone to changing your mind when Mercury goes direct!

Remember there is no need to hide away during this time. Go with the flow, but expect some delays. Be understanding of yourself and others, and use this time to prepare and plan.

The Moon is in the house of Gemini, an intellectual air sign that loves to ponder and expand ideas. We are using this lunar energy and Mercury Retrograde to create vision boards for our future. A vision board is a tool that helps us clarify and amplify our goals and intentions.

Creating a Full Moon Vision Board

Cold Moon Spirit de la Lune Full Moon Vision Board Ritual

Put simply, a vision board is a place where you put images or words that match your goals and desires so you can see them daily and reaffirm your intention.

There have been numerous studies done on visualization and success rates. Check out this cool study from forbes magazine!

Creating a Vision Board on the night of the Full Moon can be very impactful. Especially if you are combining it with crystals and other elements of magick!

Cold Moon Spirit de la Lune Full Moon Vision Board Ritual

What you will need:

  • intention or goal

  • images and words from magazine clippings, or websites

  • poster board or cardboard, you can do this in your journal, art journal, the back of a notebook etc.

  • mod-podge, glue, or tape

  • paintbrush

  • crystals that match your intention

  • altar

It’s important to begin this ritual with a clear intention. Vision boards can be focused on long term or short term goals. Go back to your new moon intention if you need to! If you aren’t sure where to start, begin by journaling or meditating. Ask yourself where you would like to be in a year, or 5 years.

Spirit de la Lune Full Cold Moon Vision Board Magic Ritual
  1. Meditate on your intention and visualize what it is you are wanting to create in your life. As you do this, check in with your emotions. What would it feel like to attain this vision? What emotions does this vision evoke?

  2. Once you have your intention, Go through old magazines, websites or books and look for images and words that feel in alignment with your vision and the emotion you evoked during step one. The images you choose don’t have to look e

The images you choose don’t have to look exactly like what you are wanting. You are just wanting a visual that evokes the emotion you felt during the process. You can find great magazine for vision boards at thrift stores or online here. Pick words or short phrases that feel in alignment with your vision as well. A good mixture of both will help both hemispheres of your brain, and your subconscious and conscious get to work!

3. Once you have gathered your words and images, arrange them on your poster board in a way that looks good to you!

collage hints:

  • Try several arrangements. Take pictures and compare. You will want to like the way it looks!

  • Glue in layers. Use big pieces for the background.

  • Put the words and smaller images on last.

  • Apply the mod-podge directly to the posterboard. Applying it to magazine . paper will make it weak and curl.

  • Take a picture of your arrangement before you begin gluing. It’s easy to forget how you wanted it once you start gluing!

  • You don’t need much glue with magazine paper. It tends to bubble up, so use thin layers and gently press the bubbles out with your fingertip.

4. Once the glue is dry, it’s time to charge and dedicate your board!

You can use crystals or other meaningful objects to charge your board.

Pleace your vision board on a flat surface, preferable where the Full Moon can shine onto it, and arrange your crystals around and over your vision board.

You can use any crystals that are in alignment with your vision! I used quartz points and rose quartz for mine because quartz can be programmed with your intention and is a great amplifier.

Keep your board charged under the moonlight for the duration of the Full Moon

5. After the Full Moon, place your board on your altar for the remainder of the lunar cycle or for however long you’d like it to keep it up.

It’s recommended to keep your vision board somewhere where you will see it often.

You can add new things to your vision board as you feel! There are no official rules. Make it your very own!

Full Moon energy can best be felt three days before and three days after the actual Full Moon, so you will have plenty of time to gather your magazines if you don’t have any around your house!

Happy Full Moon!
